The general objective of this course is to review a number of mathematical concepts introduced in high school algebra and to introduce new mathematical concepts and solutions that are relevant for the study of social sciences and Artificial Intelligence. The course takes a practical, applied approach to math in order to increase student appreciation of the material. Real world cases include examples from Ad Spending, AdBlocking, Facebook use, smartphone dependency, terrorism, environmental changes and financial decisions, e.g., student loans.
After completing the course, students are able to tackle real life finite math problems by using mathematical models based on company data.
Learning Objectives:
 Understand principal formulas and terms pertaining to the use of straight lines and linear formulas.
 Have basic knowledge of how to solve linear equations and how to use, compare and construct matrices.
 Understand and apply various laws for sets.
 Have the ability to compute probabilities of the occurrence of certain events.
 Draw conclusions and make forecasts using various mathematical tools for inductive statistics.
