Doel van de cursus (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

PASS UCTilburg is a mentorsystem, aimed at raising study success and creating a community between LAS-students and lecturers. Pass UCTilburg helps first year students to learn how to study, and in making (study related) choices, such as their major choice. In the second and third year, Pass UCTilburg helps students to look at their future and make choices accordingly (in terms of minor choice, topic of bachelor thesis, master choice). Students are divided into groups of 15 to 20 students in the first year, which will be supervised by a mentor. Students meet their mentor 5 times a year. In the second and third year, students will be mentored by the program-directors of the majors they chose. Pass UCTilburg is focussed on all students, whether they experience difficulties in their studies or not. All students are invited to get the most out of their studies.

Inhoud van de cursus (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

The first year

The mentorsystem starts off with a Startseminar in the second week of the first semester. In this seminar, the curriculum will be discussed. Students are told what the first year consists of, what the relationship is between the different courses, and what are important deadlines throughout the year. This Startseminar is scheduled for all first year students together. In the third week of semester 1, students meet within their mentorgroups and meet their mentor for the first time.
During the rest of the year students meet in their mentorgroups 4 times more. These meetings are dedicated to study-related topics (for instance time management, major choice, personal reflection). During these meetings, the curriculum will also be evaluated.

The second and third year

At the end of the first year, students choose a major. The mentorgroups in the 2nd and 3rd year will be formed around the majors that students choose. In the meetings in the 2nd and 3rd year, topics like the bachelor thesis, minor choice and master choice will be central.

Bijzonderheden (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

The Pass UCTilburg system is aimed at all students of University College Tilburg. However, since it is first introduced this year, it is only available for students that start the Liberal Arts and Sciences curriculum in 2017-2018. In 2018-2019, the PASS UCTilburg system will be expanded to the second year, and in 2019-2020 to the third year.
