Doel van de cursus (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

- The student understands selected core concepts in psychology, and can critically analyse their relationship to the domain of (interactive) media. Specifically, the student has acquired an academic understanding of (1) immersion & presence, (2) reinforcement & addiction, (3) experience modelling, (4) empathy, (5) memory, and (6) personalisation.

- The student can explain selected concepts in psychology, and can illustrate how the concepts relate to the domain of interactive media.

- The student can analyse which psychological concepts are relevant for establishing a certain media experience, and can create a short film that demonstrates / manipulates this concept.


Inhoud van de cursus (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

This course is focused on ‘The Brain and (Interactive) Media’. As such it does not exclusively focus on relatively passive media (such as cinema), but also focuses on interactive media (such as video games) and media that provide embodied experiences (such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality).

Bijzonderheden (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

Assessment will take place with a regular exam (60%), paper presentations (20%), and producting a short film (20%).
