Doel van de cursus (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

The students will be able to

  • reflect on the validity, usability and applicability of paradigms using eye tracking, and the results of research – both in theoretical context and in practical application
  • conduct empirical research using eye tracking (both autonomously and in a group) and thus contribute to knowledge
  • report results from their own research using eye tracking in the format required for the publication of experimental research

Inhoud van de cursus (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

The research laboratory of TSH is equipped with three SMI RED250 eye trackers (see www.smivision.com). Two eye trackers are installed in room D414 and one eye tracker is portable. The purpose of this skills module is to train students in the use of these eye trackers, so that they are able to use the technique in their thesis research. The training involves setting up and running an experiment and analysing eye-movement data. Depending on the number of participants in the course, students will work alone or in groups of two. The course will consist of lectures and practicals in the laboratory.

Students will, individually, describe their experiment in the form of the method section of a research paper (50% of the grade). Furthermore, they will receive a practical assignment in the lab (50% of the grade).

Bijzonderheden (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

Attendance to lectures and practicals is obligatory.

Verplichte literatuur

  1. SMI, Manuals to Experiment Center, BeGaze, and iView X (will be supplied in the course).
  2. Additional literature on eye tracking will be announced in the course.
