Inhoud van de cursus (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

The internet has become an integral part of our lives, it has been integrated into almost everything that we do. Yet, how does the internet work? What does it mean that over 30,000 GB of data is produced every second, and how is this data stored and organised? This course will help you gain a better understanding of the internet, web technology, and online collections of data.

By learning how to build simple webpages, structure online data, and publish on the web you will gain practical experience with the skills required to access and maintain online data collections. We will work with the most commonly encountered data formats (HTML, XML, CSV, and JSON) and discuss technological innovations from recent years (including: cloud computing, big data, internet of things, etc.)

The course consists of lectures and practical sessions where students work on the assignments. For the project you will work in small groups in order to create an online data collection environment.
